Patty Synenko, 53, was spotted standing in an industrial-sized kitchen that is worth going to prison for.

It's roomy, modern, clean, and located inside the Roseau County Detention Center where she is the one and only cook.

She laughs often in a facility where most folks would never want to spend even a solitary hour.

Ms. Synenko was asked about her last name.

"It's Ukrainian and I'm Norwegian," she said.

One of the tricks to getting along in the joint is not to ask personal questions.
