Vivian Joyce Larson Dunlop was born January 4, 1930 in Roseau County, Minnesota to Olaf and Esther (Thorin) Larson.

She was married to Lloyd Dunlop in 1947 and moved to the rural Minto, N.D., area and had three children. In 1961 the family moved to Forest River and the following year she began working at the Getz Drug Store in Grafton.
