Remembering Fred Fish, Forever Twenty-Three

 

It was 1968 - a divisive time with the Vietnam War, the anti-war protests and tear gas, and the contentious Democratic National Convention in Chicago and the Chicago police riot.

It was far from the best of times.

For those who fought in Vietnam, they didn't come home to parades and warm welcomes.

Many came home with missing limbs and other horrendous injuries, which required extensive stays at military hospitals.

And far too many came home in coffins.

Warroad's Fred K. Fish was one of the four Roseau County soldiers who came home to be buried during the Vietnam War.
