My father, who was born in Badger, Minnesota, in 1900, wasn't fond of the Japanese, Italians, and Germans. He only said "Japs" when I was a kid.

Blame that on World War II, even though he never served a single day in the military.

Pop had his prejudices.

My mother never once said a derogatory word about any minority, probably because she had been the daughter of German-speaking immigrants, who were considered the bottom of the barrel in the early Twentieth Century in Minneapolis.

Her parents didn't speak English right away like the bozos up here and all across America who think that new imm...
