Submitted by Coach Mooney We had two post season events, team and individual section tournaments. On February 15th we traveled to Detroit Lakes for the first round of team competition. We took on the host team, Detroit Lakes. Tristan, Daniel A., Avery, and Owen wrestled in the team event. We were outmatched by the older kids and were done wrestling as a team early in the night. The individual section tournament was held in Melrose on February 25-26th. Tristian and Patrick were the two wrestlers...
Submitted by Coach Mooney Tuesday, January 11, we traveled to Grafton, N.D. on short notice for a triangular meet with Grafton and Northwood after a cancellation. This was our first dual of the season with our young team. We met Grafton first after they dualed Northwood. We moved a few weights around to get everyone a match. This put us at a small disadvantage. It was also senior night in Grafton and everyone wrestled upperclassmen making it a little more lopsided. But wrestling with the odds...
Submitted by Coach Mooney We started the week off in Thief River Falls competing against TRF JV along with Crookston JV. This gave the guys some dual environment experience. Pat lost two matches 5-1 and a pin. Avery wrestled twice, losing one and winning one match by pin. Daniel A, Mike, and Ethan lost one match each by pin....
Submitted by Coach Mooney On Dec 11th seven wrestlers competed at The Rodd Olson Invitational. Six wrestlers started off the day in the JV tournament. Our lightest guy, Tristan Carriales ran into some tough competition losing 3 matches for a 4th place finish. All of Tristian's matches were closer than the final scores indicate. Each of the matches had close scores until Tristian lost focus long enough to get caught by each of his opponents. Thatcher Olson had finished the day with a 1-2 record....
Submitted by Coach Mooney The wrestling season started out with a trip to the Alfred Olson Tournament in Fosston. This was the first event of the season for most of the teams at the tournament. Patrick Locklear and Daniel Nelson competed at the varsity level. Pat as a freshman, who is starting to get to know varsity competition over the last couple of years, drew a tough first round against the number one seed. The match ended with Pat losing by pin in the first period. It was a good reminder of the competition that is in the 145 lb. weight...
