  • More First Time Winners At Greenbush Race Park

    Keith Cumming|Aug 22, 2020

by Keith Cumming Well the Greenbush area got lucky once again and missed all the heavy rain that some in the area got this past Thursday and Friday, and even the scattered showers predicted for race day seemed to dissipate the closer it got to race time and that set up a great night of racing at GRP. The NLRA Late Models had three visits planned at the Park this year, the first was cancelled due to COVID, the second rained out, so the third time was the charm as 17 cars lined up for their feature. At the drop of the green, outside polesitter...

Ten cars would take the green for the Modified feature, and Dustin Wahl of Greenbush, would come from his inside second row starting spot to take the lead. Keith Cumming|Jul 18, 2020

After losing race dates in May and all of June due to Covid-19, and Mother Nature rearing her ugly head for the 4th of July opener, The Greenbush Race Park was finally able to turn some laps under green flag conditions. Dustin Strand of East Grand Forks, doesn't make it to the Park that often, but when he does he's a good bet to park it in the winner's circle at the end of the night, and he did just that in the Modified feature. Strand led all 20 laps, but it wasn't easy as Dustin Wahl of Greenbush, was nipping at his back bumper the entire...

But the Race Park only received intermittent light sprinkles and was able to get the night under way with a little extra track packing. Some showers earlier in the day gave way to a beautiful evening and a great night of racing at the Greenbush Race Park. Keith Cumming|Aug 4, 2018

If you run a race track and you hear there is a chance of "scattered" showers in the forecast, you're thinking please scatter them somewhere else. But as Mother Nature would have it, she scattered some light rain over the Greenbush Race Park about 10 minutes before race time. Officials sent the cars to the pits from packing the track, and let the track sit for about half an hour. After reworking the track and packing it in again, racing got under way 50 minutes later. Fifteen NLRA Late Models took the track for their feature and it would be...

Mike Tiani of Middle River, would lead the 12 car Modified feature to the green, and looked like the car to beat as the car looked like it was on a rail. A couple of laps in Tiani would have to hold off Halma, driver Jordan Duray. This battle went on for about eight laps, Duray would get along side of Tiani on the straights, but Ti...

  • Mother Nature gets second win at Greenbush Race Park

    Keith Cumming|Jul 23, 2018

A cloudy overcast day had Greenbush Race Park officials hoping that the rain would hold off long enough for them to get the racing program in. But two laps into the first heat a light rain started forcing the cars to the pits, and about 30 minutes later that persistant light rain forced promoter Jaime Sovde to cancel the nights racing program. Up next for the fastest 1/4 mile track in Northwestern Minnesota will be the first visit of the year for the NLRA Late Models and the Jack Grahn Memorial. The "Dugan" Nelson Memorial for the Midwest...

Only eight cars took the green flag for the Street feature, and Doug Van Mill of Bagley, would lead them to the green. Van Mill would use his number one starting spot to take the early lead. Keith Cumming|Jun 30, 2018

Some say that if you want to cure a drought, open a racetrack because it's sure to rain on raceday. And once again mother nature was going to have a say in the nights racing action at the Greenbush Race Park. The pit gates opened at 4 p.m., and the dark clouds rolled in at 4:05. But mother nature decided to give us a break and only give us a few light sprinkles and the racing would go on. It was the third annual "Duggan" Nelson Memorial for the Midwest Modifieds and Hunter Hougard of Warren, would lead the 20 car field to the green. But the...

With the weather looking like it didn't know what to do, the Greenbush Race Park beat the odds and was able to get their program in. The Street feature would have Jeremy Gust of Strathcona, sitting on the pole and would lead the first lap, but coming out of corner two on lap two he would surrender the lead to John Halvorson of Warren. One lap later Gust would spin in two and was unable to continue. On the restart Halvorson would have to contend with rookie Jerome Berger of Badger, and veteren Ryan Johnson of Karlstad, with Johnson taking the...
