by Ellie Hedlund, English 12, Mrs. Didrikson After a long day of island hopping from the Greek islands of Samos to Patmos with my friends, we were exhausted. Our day started with a 3 amam wake up call in our tiny room on the cruise ship. Our ship was headed to Turkey, but our EF (Education First) tour group was to go to Samos, a small Greek island, instead. After eating breakfast on the island at about 5 a.m., our whole tour group, which consisted of about thirty kids and chaperones, decided to...
by Penny Turgeon It's was a hot, muggy Monday afternoon. Earlier in the day a violent T-Storm ran through the area, knocking down trees and temporarily flooding the streets. But this being northern Minnesota and all, it cleared up within an hour and the heat was on! About 30 ATV rigs converged on an area in Beltrami that has been a topic of much debate and a ton of work to open up to riders. It was a major accomplishment for the two local ATV clubs. The result of the countless, thankless hours o...

We missed the last couple of years because of the drought, but the weatherman is promising more rain and mosquitoes for the Open, presently scheduled for a Friday or Saturday night in early August. The leadoff guest is none other than President Donald J....
Heaven. That's the word Kyle would use to describe Minnesota's Largest Candy Store. I think he was born with a prominent sweet tooth. I was almost more excited to take him to this big, glorious yellow barn than myself. Walking into this yellow barn-shaped building made the diabetic in me come out. They sold candy from all over the world, pop bottles in unique varieties, chips and salsa, baked goods, jerky, flavored licorice, popcorn and taffy, and thousands of jigsaw puzzles and novelty gifts. O...

"LOVE COMES FIRST!" Is this true? Guess where I read it? Now I think it's a safe guess that your response is: "Why in the Bible, of course!" Well, the place of love in our priorities is certainly grounded in the scriptures, but that's not where I read the above statement. Are you ready? It's printed on the inside cover of a Nellie's Free Range Eggs carton. And I love the picture printed next to it. How did that statement get on an egg carton? The statement underneath tells us: "We were the...
