Former Roseau telephone operators held reunion during the fair

Several women who formerly worked as telephone operators in Roseau held a little coffee reunion during the fair.
They were employees of Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. on the manual switchboard, answering with a friendly "Number, please.." whenever you picked up your phone to place a call.
Pictured are 5 of the 11 women who were working for "Ma Bell" at the time of the conversion to dial telephoning on Dec. 5, 1965. A little white house was located just north of what is now the new City Center. It housed the manual switchboard, the business office where you paid your telephone bill,...
