Legendary Polaris Founder leaves a wonderful legacy

David Johnson, a Roseau legend and a lion of the community who lived his dream by making winter more accessible with his Polaris snowmobile creations and yet never lost his salt-of-the-earth persona, died last Saturday at 93.

Mr Johnson didn't have any detractors.

He was like fresh air, sunshine, and a cold glass of lemonade on a very hot day.

He was beloved, admired, and cherished - and active until fairly recently.

He was the last of the original Polaris founders, preceded in death by brothers, Allan and Edgar Hetteen.
