Roseau - David Eli Johnson died on October 8, 2016 at home in Roseau. Over the last seven months, his health declined due to dementia.

David was born in Roseau, on February 5, 1923, to Walfred and Signe (Sunsten) Johnson. Signe died shortly after his birth. Before she died, she asked her midwife, Betty Hetteen, to take care of David.
