Many came to the rescue of a wounded eagle

Last Saturday afternoon, Skime came alive as word spread that an injured bald eagle was in the ditch along Highway 9 a couple of miles north of Skime.

Heather Morey was among the first on the scene with her crews of four-wheelers, and they sounded the alert.

It wasn't long before State Trooper Nicholas Robertson arrived on the scene, but they needed a real pro to handle the injured raptor.

And that was Gretchen Mehmel, the Wildlife Manager at Norris Camp, who was contacted by Beth Siverhus.
