Mr. Engevik

After almost a quarter century of teaching at Roseau High School, Nate Engevik, 68, will be remembered as a rumpled old professor, a Crocodile Dundee in suspenders, an "Easy Rider" on his motorcycle, and more than just a fashion statement.

In sporting terms, he's akin to knuckleballer Phil Niekro, the Hall of Famer who pitched until he was 47.

And, just maybe, Mr. Engevik could throw a good screwball himself to con his tougher students into reading books they considered to be in the Twilight Zone.

He taught the hard to teach while also serving as the advisor for the RHS Speech Team.
