Floyd B. Olson, a beloved community member who served as the Roseau postmaster for 25 years while dispensing stamps along with his witty one-liners until he retired in 1991 and later worked as a clerk at Ross True Value where he welcomed everyone with the charm of a favorite uncle, is being remembered as a friend, volunteer, family man, and an all-around great guy.

Mr. Olson, a Swede who died last week at 86 after several years of health problems, was named in honor of Minnesota's governor, Floyd B. Olson, who assumed office on January 6, 1931.
