Terrific!

This morning on First Light, which runs from 5 to 6 a.m. on Wild 102 FM, the call-in question had to do with immigrants, legal and illegal.

I perked up when there were comments that these interlopers don't speak English.

Of course, they don't.

If they came from Nicaragua, they speak Spanish. If they came from Poland, they speak Polish.

Everywhere in this country 120 years ago, about half the population didn't speak English.

Three of my four grandparents didn't speak English when they came to America about 125 years ago.

One was a Swede and the other two were Germans.
