Patrick Sandland, 28, who frequently watches moose browsing in his yard with mountains in the distance, is right at home out in the boonies.

Less than three years ago, the 2008 Roseau High School alumnus was getting set to graduate from Northland Community and Technical College with a degree in Aviation Technology.

That's when he threw caution to the wind and headed to the Far North.

On Saturday, February 3, it was 10 above zero in Talkeetna, Alaska, and it was 10 below zero in Roseau County.
