Last Friday afternoon, Will Steger, a former collegiate wrestler and polar explorer who prefers to push the physical limits of even the most exceptionally fit human beings, was spotted at the Daisy Gardens Restaurant in Warroad.

He looked ready to run a marathon.

He is 73 and would shortly begin a solo challenge of traversing more than 1,000 miles in the Barren Lands up in northern Canada, a trip that began earlier this week in northern Saskatchewan at Black Lake.
