“Clean up your plate, there are starving children in the world” (maybe China or Africa)! I heard this from my mother more than once as a child. You know what? I still clean up my plate to this day. Later I heard, “Don’t take more than you can eat!”, and if I did I might hear: “It looks like your eyes were bigger than your stomach.” I still watch how much of anything I put on my plate. Do you remember how difficult it was as a child to judge the right amount of food to put on your plate? (Unless it was liver, oysters of beets). I could handle boiled cow tongue as long as there was mustard!
