Mooney qualifies to Greco-Roman Nationals

 

Last Saturday at the Rochester Community & Technical College, which was the site of the Northern Plains Regional Tournament, Chandler Mooney, 17, and a Roseau High School junior, walked off the mat after the third place finals looking like he'd been in a knife fight.

It was just the breaks of the game as he suffered a cut to his head that required six stitches immediately following the match in which he qualified to the Greco-Roman nationals at the Fargodome in July.

In contrast to freestyle wrestling, the emphasis in Greco is to launch your opponent to earn back points.
