On the very special day that we honor our war dead, the community of Roseau once again did us proud that no one who was killed in action was forgotten.

One old soldier, retired Lt. Colonel Val Bernat (U.S. Army), made sure of that.

He runs his one-man greens crew, mowing and manicuring Roseau Veterans Memorial Park and then he puts together the annual Memorial Day program like Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Almost anywhere one looked on Monday morning, they were waiting for the annual parade from Citizens State Bank to Roseau High School.
