Midterm Elections are a study of contrasts

If all politics are local, as the saying goes, Roseau County, a Republican bastion, would have carried the day for the Grand Old Party this past Tuesday.

However, the DFL won all the elective statewide offices from the governorship to attorney general.

The Democrats became the majority party in the U.S. House of Representatives while the Republicans retained and increased their control of the U.S. Senate.

In the Minnesota State Legislature, the DFL will become the majority party in 2019 while the GOP will retain at least a one-seat majority in Minnesota State Senate.
