We need more color in our lives

It's unfortunate that you have to read the obituaries to learn someone's real name.

In November, Chopper Edberg died, and I never knew his real name was Ordean Elroy Edberg.

That is a classy name.

I just knew him as Chopper, and in the late 1970s we worked at Marvin Windows in Stack and Strip for a year or so. I never asked him how he got the nickname of Chopper, but it fit him.

He was just a cool dude.

Anybody who grew up in the Forties and Fifties can remember the great nicknames our sports heroes had.
