Of course, I knew it was coming. It's a fact of life that none of us is getting out of here alive.

Still, it hurts.

Ole Kompelien died on Saturday, January 26, at age 89, and he was a tough old bird when I first bumped into him in 1976 at Marvin Windows.

He was about six-two and imposing.

He’d often scowl, trying to put the fear of Jesus in me back then.

That went on for a number of years until I gave him a solid whack against his chest with my right arm and did a backheel trip with my right leg.
