Bozeman, Mont. - Doris Elaine (Erickson) Hillard, born January 7, 1932 in Badger, was the seventh of Cornelius and Ida Erickson's eight children. Doris grew up on farms in Badger and Wannaska and told stories about sharing a bedroom with all her siblings, two-seater outhouses, chamber pots, cleaning lamp chimneys, big gardens, milk cows, and raising 100 chickens every spring. At 19, Doris passed the Civil Service Test. She took the train to Washington D.C., and began working at the Pentagon.
