Middle River Invites You to the 45th Annual Goose Festival September 27, 28 and 29, 2019

The community of Middle River, announces its’ 45th Annual Goose Festival, to be held September 27, 28 and 29. This year’s theme is “Livin’ the Legacy”.

FRIDAY, September 27

At 4:00, the 45th Annual Goose Festival Opening Ceremony is Main Stage on Main Street. Immediately following ceremony; Main Street Shenanigans – join the fun or enjoy watching, Goose Drop (Get your squares at Cenex Co-op and hope the goose “drops” on your square) and NEW – Sidewalk Chalk Decorating contest for all ages. The American Legion Auxiliary Supper is from 4:30-7:30. Bingo at the American Legion starts at 6:00. At 7:00, “Funny Money” by Ray Cooney, will be performed live by the Middle River Community Theater at the Ye Olde Depot Theater (advance tickets at Young’s Store). Enjoy “Slamabama” at The Wheel Bar and Nyte Ryders at the American Legion, both from 9:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m.

Morning - SATURDAY, September 28

At 8 a.m., Steve Holmes Memorial Walking Path Surprise 5K – “Walk/Run/Roll” Prizes for 3 divisions - elementary, high school and adult. From 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., the Craft and Flea Market is downtown. From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. is the Goose Weigh-In contest at the Silver Bullet, cash prize for heaviest bird.

Afternoon/Evening –

SATURDAY, September 28

At 12:30 p.m. the Goose Festival Parade runs through town. Spectators are asked to bring a nonperishable food item or cash donation for the Dahl Family Food Shelf Wagon. After the parade, Antique Car and Tractor Show, Memorial Park (next to water tower), register at show, awards at 3:30. From 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., “Texas Connection” will be performing at the American Legion. Music by “Cathy Erickson” at 2:30 on Main Stage. Music at 3:45 on the Main St. stage, “Justine Johnson” performs. NEW – BAJA RACING at the Legacy Center at 4:00. NEW – Hot Dog Eating Contest at 4:15– cash prizes. At 5:00 is the Goose Drop (Buy your squares at Cenex Co-op and hope the goose “drops” on your square). Bingo at American Legion begins at 5:00. At 5:00, the Goose Cookoff starts at the Main Street Picnic Shelter. At 5:30, the Goose Calling Contest is on Main St., sponsored by Cabela’s. At the Main Stage at 6:30, music by “Two 4 the Show”. At 7:00, Teen dance at the Legacy Center for grades 7-12, music by Kickin’ Entertainment, Kenny Lubarski. At 7:00 Polka Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Enjoy live music - “Nyte Ryders” at the American Legion or “The Brave” at The Wheel, both venues 9:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m.

SUNDAY, September 29

From 8:00-11:00 a.m., at the American Legion, Pancake/Ham Breakfast, donations benefit the Thief Lake/Middle River Living at Home Program. The North Country Horseman’s Saddle Club Game Show located at the Ornquist Arena. 7:30 a.m. registration opens. From 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., the Craft and Flea market is downtown. At 11:30 a.m. Community Church Service at Main St. stage. The American Legion hosts the annual Music Jam at 1:00 p.m., sponsored by the Legion and the Community Club (FREE with Goose Fest button). At 4:00 p.m. don’t miss the final performance of “Funny Money” by Ray Cooney, performed at the Ye Olde Depot Theater.

Many food vendors will line downtown Middle River. There will be many crafts, flea markets and rummage sales throughout town. Come join in for all the festivities, contests, and entertainment at Middle River’s 45th Annual Goose Festival, “Livin’ the Legacy”.
