Last Thursday, Mitch Wilmer, a deputy sheriff in training with the Roseau County Sheriff's Department, returned from a transport detail delivering a prisoner to Brainerd for treatment.

He stands out in a crowd.

That was the word from Tobi Eidsmoe, Chief Deputy Sheriff for the Roseau County Sheriff's Department.

Wilmer will come in handy looking over a high fence, trying to spot a perpetrator in a crowd, or looking in a crawl space.

"He's really tall. So far, so good, and he's catching on quick," said Eidsmoe last week.

And then Mitch Wilmer came in from the outside while ducking his head.
