A note to the America I will miss

I wonder how the septuagenarians (70-year-olds) felt back in the late 1960s when this country was exploding with protests, love-ins, riots, flower children, and getting stoned.
All of them are dead who were my age then.
The Sixties were brutal - three assassinations - President John F. Kennedy (1963), Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. (1968), and Senator Robert F. Kennedy (1968).
I was in Canada, kayaking on the Peace River when we pulled up to a trapper and upon learning that we were Yanks, he commented, "First, you killed King and then you killed Kennedy."
You got it wrong, I told the guy.
