Badger - Bob was born in a rural area north of Grygla in 1943. As a boy he was busy logging and haying with his dad, Ezra. While he was haying on July 4, 1953, a horse pulling the dump rake was stung by a bee and overturned the rake, breaking Bob's back. After finishing school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army. He spent some time in Fort Ord, Calif., and then a year in Texas. He spent a year in Germany and then had a 13-month tour in Vietnam. He was home on leave when he met Joyce.
