On October 8th the NW Conference CC Meet was held in Warren. Like everywhere else in NW MN, the Warren Golf Course was soft with standing water all over the place. This did not dampen the spirits or the will of the CC runners who by now are used to running in mud, rain, and water.

The teams that make up the NW CC Conference are: Ada-NCW, Bagley/ Fosston, Clearbrook/Gonvick, Crookston, EGF, Fisher/Climax, Roseau, Red Lake County Central, Warroad, West Marshall, and Lake of the Woods. Jr. High (7-9th gr.) runners through Varsity (10-12 gr.) all compete against the other schools. The weather was in the low 50s with a slight breeze. The sun even peeked out from time to time. In this conference meet, the top 15 Jr. High finishers got a ribbon. The top 15 Varsity runners received a nice, wooden plaque.

The Jr. High athletes ran first, boys and girls together. All of the Jr. High Ram Girls medaled, with Dakota Dunham coming in 9th overall, Bryn Wilson 11th, and Kylie Kendrick 15th. The Jr. Boys won the meet by beating EGF 28 points to 33 points. For the Jr High boys, Ryan Hirst placed first, Brennen Johnson 3rd, Noah Urness 5th, Gunnar Lund 9th, and Bodee Hovda 10th. These 5 scored for the team and all achieved All-Conference ribbons. Titus Kvien also achieved All-Conference status by placing 13th overall and received a ribbon. Thirteen other Ram Jr High boys ran hard and many ran good times despite the wet and soggy conditions.

The Varsity Girls placed fourth as a team, behind EGF, Warroad, and Ada. Lelia Johnson ran a very strong race and won the meet, just edging Eliana Blees from Warroad. She received her plaque for all NW Conference Honors. Other scorers for the Rams were Autumn Dimich 17th, Faith Restad 19th, Lacey Restad 23rd, and Emily Restad 26th.

The Varsity Boys placed second behind EGF. Kyle Erickson came in first for the Rams, placing 6th. He was followed by Talon Hiligis 10th, David Nelson 12th, Tristan Anderson 16th, and Jarrett Nelson 18th. Kyle, Talon, and David all received plaques and achieved All-Conference honors. Many other varsity boys also ran well at this meet.

Section 8A CC Meet

The Section 8A CC Meet is held in Bagley every year, as Bagley is geographically located in the middle of the section. This meet provides the opportunity for teams and individuals to make it to the state meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield. The top 2 teams of 7 runners advance, and then the next 8 individual finishers not on those top 2 teams also advance to the state meet. The Section 8A meet was on Friday, October 25. The Rams have had a good season and have put in a lot of hard work, running lots of miles and workouts. Several Ram runners have the ability to advance to State. Information on the Section 8A meet will be in next week's edition of this paper.
