Of all the characters and rascals that I have dealt with in my lifetime, none can beat the beggars who have hit on me at Christmas and graduation.

Once, I had a daughter-in-law, a wonderful gal, who got upset when I wrote in this space that some scoundrel from Thief River Falls, whom I'd never heard of, had sent me a graduation announcement.

It was her nephew.

"Who the hell is this scamp?" I typed before starting an early morning fire in the wood stove on a cold May morning using that graduation announcement and his photo.
