In Hawaii to honor the Pearl Harbor Survivors

"It was a day that shall live in infamy," declared President Franklin Delano Roosevelt as he addressed Congress the day following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
It was only fitting that Roseau's Val Bernat, an old soldier himself, was at Pearl Harbor to pay homage to the Pearl Harbor Survivors, as they are known, now in their nineties or older.
There was pomp and ceremony at Fort DeRussey on Waikiki on Saturday, December 7, as the ever declining Pearl Harbor Survivors saluted smartly during the playing of the National Anthem.
