On Tuesday evening on the road to Walhalla, N.D., the Rams had two seventh graders start on the varsity.

"Austin Baumgartner is too light at 75 to wrestle varsity bin Minnesota, but we weren't in Minnesota," said Coach Scott Mooney, who hadn't been familiar with the North Dakota ruling.

"North Dakota does not have a minimum weight requirement to compete at 106 pounds," he said, adding that the other kid was also well under 106 pounds.

"Austin did a very good job in his first varsity match ever," he said, noting that Austin was pinned at the 2:49 mark of the second period by Logan Werner.
