Jane Arliss Wold, 80

Roseau- Jane Arliss Wold was born March 15,1939 in Crookston to Howard and Luella (Hamlin) Ploof. Jane grew up in Grand Forks, N.D., where she attended Belmont Grade School and Central High School. A natural athlete, she excelled in figure skating and playing softball. Her first official job was at Widman's Candy Shop in Grand Forks.

In 1955, the Ploof family moved to Warroad. Jane worked with her mother Luella at LuJ Cafe (named after Jim, Jane, Joyce and Jack), which sparked a passion for cooking and a cherished legacy of working side by side with family. In 1970, Jane moved her family to Roseau. She loved to snowmobile, go on boat rides, work in the yard, and garden. She spent many hours tending cows and baling flax straw on the Lund farm. Jane and family were active members of Spruce Lutheran Church, where she sang with a wonderful trio at services.

Jane and Gary Wold were united in marriage on September 24, 1988. Jane managed the Row-Rob Apartments and the Roseau Eagles, where she was very active in the Eagles Auxiliary, serving as President for a year. Gary and Jane owned and operated Earl's Drive-In for 11 years until they sold in 2001. They enjoyed winters in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and Queen Creek, Ariz. for many years. This was a special time for Jane because she was able to spend holidays with Tracy and Tim. She never missed her bowling night, and for a tiny lady she sure could roll that ball! Jane embroidered beautifully, was an avid reader, enjoyed working on puzzles, doing crosswords, and was pretty hard to beat at Scrabble. She sang in several choirs throughout the years, and had a real appreciation of music. Jane enjoyed watching any sporting event, traveling, and spending time with her family. Jane was known for her elegant cursive handwriting. She often sent lovely cards and letters to her family and friends.

Jane passed away peacefully on November 30, 2019 at LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau. She leaves behind her husband Gary Wold of Roseau, her children Brenda (Tom) Grawberger, Teri (Doug) Magnusson, Roger (Tunna) Lund, all of Roseau, Tracy Lund of Polk City, Iowa and Tim Lund of Phoenix, Ariz.
