When the last of the cornflakes flutter into the cereal bowl with the remaining dribbles of milk from the carton and the heel of the bread has been toasted, it can be a long day for many children dealing with hunger in the U.S. Sixty-two percent of teachers say children in their classrooms are coming to school hungry. In America 1 in 7 children struggle with hunger. Educators in the U.S. are acutely aware of childhood hunger's massive impact.

Children who go hungry are more likely to miss school and receive lower grades. Children facing hunger are twice as likely to repeat a grade in elementar...
