IS JESUS SIMPLY A "CRUTCH" FOR WEAK-MINDED PEOPLE?

One of my favorite Calvin and Hobbes cartoons is the one where they are lying in bed concentrating on anything but sleeping and Calvin asks: "Why are we here on Earth?" Without hesitation Hobbes replies: "Tiger food!" In the last picture Calvin is lying under the covers with his eyes as big as saucers, and a worried expression on his face. Hobbes is sound asleep with a big grin on his furry face.
Why are we here on Earth? Can anyone tell us, and can we lean the weight of our life on their answer? As I type this a couple of verses in the book of Proverbs come to mind. First Proverbs 18: 17:...
