Possibly, he was doing the dishes on Saturday morning, but Roseau County Sheriff Steve Gust, 54, speaking via landline from his home in Badger, was happy for the diversion.
He has two years remaining on his third four-year term and is a combination of Lieutenant Columbo and Sheriff Andy Taylor of fictional Mayberry.
He might even say "Shucks" once in a while.
Have you had to tell people to put their masks on?
"If someone calls for us to investigate, we have to investigate. That's our obligation," he said. "But whether or not it goes anywhere, is up to the Department of Health....
