5 years ago… Russell Palm, 72, calls it quits after over a century and a half

After a half century of working at Prior Electric in Roseau, Russell Palm, 72, was calling it a career.

Recent inductees into the Roseau Athletic Hall of Fame were Jerry Larson, Sarah Butler, Bob Harris, James Stordahl, Kristi Glassmann, Rev. Erling Huglen and the 1961 Roseau Rams State Hockey Championship team.

Kerby Eidsmoe of Roseau was this year’s winner of the Badger High School Tractor Club’s raffle. He won a 1948 Gambles Farmcast Model 30 tractor.

Marshall and Tami Loken of Roseau announced the engagement of their daughter Sarah to Ben Johnson of Crosby, N.D. A December wedding was planned.

10 years ago – Oct 30, 2010

Jeffrey Parker, a legendary character at the Roseau County Courthouse for the past five and a half years, submitted his resignation as the Veterans Service Officer.

Mitch and Sandy Chrzanowski of Roseau were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary.


Jesse Johnston of Roseau was awarded a scholarship by the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Bemidji State University golfer Justin Johnson of Roseau was selected as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for his first place finish at the Twin Cities Classic.

25 years ago – Nov. 3, 1995

The two candidates running for the Badger School Board were Lorraine Kukowski and Steve Dostal.

Todd and Lisa Thompson of Warroad announced the birth of a daughter Patience Lee, born on September 22, 1995.

Tracy Gunderson and Kelly Halstensgard of Warrroad announced the birth of a son, Alex Richard Halstensgard, born on September 26, 1995.

The Roseau boy’s Cross Country team of Jacob Broten, Courtney Spicer, Bryon Welch, Jesse Modahl, Nate Gustafson, Jon Gerulli and Ben Winstead and single girl runner, Erica Espe, were running at the state competition at St. Olaf College.

Tyler Stynsberg, age 10, the son of Faith and Paul Stynsberg of Roseau, was pictured trying his luck at Klinko at the Roseau Women of Today annual Halloween Party.

A wedding reception for June Hagen and Selmer Sorter was held on October 28. It was hosted by June’s daughters, LaMae, Ilene and Janice and her daughter-in-law Kathy hosted the wonderful afternoon.

The 1995 Rams Volleyball team beat a tough Warroad Warrior team 5-2 to take the Subsection 32, Section 8A title. Team members were Paula Hovda, Kelly Hovda, Briget Sabourin, Rachel Kvien, Angie Vagle, Jackie Habstritt, Kylee Johnson, Katie Pearson, Megan Taylor, Sarah Lundbohm, Lyndsay Pladson and Jody Lundbohm.
