Deer, Rommegrot, and the Ugly Moment!

Duluth, Minnesota was a good city to grow up in. My father, Manford (Ben) Wingness, was an avid deer hunter. He would start out the season with a bow and arrow. He never went out of the county to hunt. He would always be home at night. I would wait for him to drive up our steep driveway located on Snively Road. He would have a grin as wide as his face.

I remember going out to our car, it was cold outside. There would always be a deer strapped to the car on top of the roof. My father would hang the deer up in the garage, then the next day usually in the late afternoon or evening, he would...
