County Veterans Service Officer Wants the Word Out

Roseau County Veterans Service Officer Martin Howes was just delighted recently when the VA added three more diseases that claims can be filed for at his office at the Roseau County Courthouse.

"Many veterans and widows have been through my office filing claims for exposure to dioxins while serving in Vietnam," he said.

He noted that until recently, Vietnam veterans had been turned down for having the wrong cancer.

"For example, bladder cancer wasn't covered and prostate cancer is. But now they can be service-connected for bladder cancer since it has been added to the presumptive list," he...
