Schlep Stands Out With Her Unusual Nickname

Emily Schleppenbach hit the first grade in Roseau with a surname that brought smiles to her classmates.

"Stepping slipping what?" some of the little Nelsons and Olsons giggled.

So, it must have been something when Emily was five-years-old and had to learn to print her name.

"Oh, yeah, I think they gave me an extra year at school to actually write it completely out so I didn't get held back because it was so long," she said, with a happy laugh.

None of her classmates had such a surname.

"Now, it's even longer because I'm married," said the 2011 Roseau High School graduate.
