Melanie Hulst, a 1996 Roseau High School graduate, could do amazing things behind home plate snaring wild pitches and tossing down to second base for the put out on base stealers.

She was the catcher for Roseau softball coach Jeff Olson, who enjoyed the skill and antics of the five-four sparkplug.

She still has that spark, laughs often, and is now Melanie "Mel" Larson.

The best way to describe her is entertaining, perky, fun, and still a little mischievous at age 43.

She knew what she wanted to do before graduating from high school - become a mortician.
