Just some old memories that will never fade away

I miss those old guys whatever their branches of service were - the blokes who once populated this town and lined up at the bar in VFW Post 8663 in Roseau after 3 p.m. - some salty characters who didn't even make it overseas.

They had been drafted and therefore were my kind of guys.

For decades, Carrie Johnson at the Roseau Times-Region has highlighted them in the Looking Back column on the date they left for service in World War II, Korea, or Vietnam.
