With the fair now past, 4-H’ers might have great memories of their experiences. While visiting Bernie Bohlinger he shared his memory of exhibiting at the Roseau County Fair when he was 11-years-old- that would be 80 years ago!! James LaChappelle and Bernie each lived on farms by the hill going to Warroad. A gentleman brought them to the fair with their animals. James had a calf and Bernie a pig. There wasn’t housing but the barns except a pile of hay. They slept in the hay until it rained- so then they slept in the barn with their animals. They had brought sandwiches from home and were there 3 days. He remembers receiving $2.65 as a prize from the fair for showing his pig.
