Father-Daughter Hockey Officials Make WCHA History

Let's start with the dad, Robert "Nooker" Ludwig, who began officiating at the kid level in 1987, a year after he graduated from Roseau High School.

Nooker is a colorful nickname.

"By the time we brought him home, I knew we couldn't have two Roberts. So I called him Snookums," said Pat Ludwig, the wife of retired minister Robert Ludwig.

Little Snookums became Snooker and then Nooker.

"When he went to school, he wanted to be called Robert. It was Nooker at home," she said.
