An old man remembers the better days

I'm no patriot.

But I do get an occasional tear in my eye when Taps is played on Memorial Day.

By the time this week's paper hits the newsstand or your mail box, the remembrance of the January 6, 2021, insurrection will be forgotten or explained away by the supporters of Donald J. Trump, who lost the 2020 election and immediately claimed voter fraud, particularly with mail-in ballots.

At least half of this county's residents quickly bought it hook, line and sinker.

They'll come to their senses, I thought.

They never did.

I don't think there's an American election at any level without some chic...
