The Pixie on the Polaris Completes the I-500

Riding on a Polaris, Unity Gausen, a Warroad eighth grader who is as comfortable on a snowmobile as Annie Oakley was on a horse, was the first 14-year-old girl to complete the Goodridge-Grygla I-500 snowmobile race on February 12-13.

For sure, the weather conditions weren't ideal. But that was just fine with Unity, who's been racing snowmobiles since she was barely out of the toddler stage.

Her mother, Trish (née Tveit) Gausen, a Roseau High School graduate, wasn't surprised by her daughter's outstanding finish.
