When Daniel Sierra arrived in Roseau just before the start of the school year, he was already remarkable.

It's rare for an exchange student to be younger than 16 or 17.

Then only 14, Daniel didn't know what lie ahead, which has been months and months of winter.

Just a couple of weeks ago, he was laughing - not crying - because winter hasn't stopped.

The coldest weather he had previously experienced was on a brief trip to the United Kingdom.

He might have seen a few snowflakes in his lifetime, but he'd never thrown a snowball before.
