The headline on the front page of Thursday's Pioneer Press newspaper read: "L.A. buries its riot victims" The accompanying picture showed a young Chinese man attempting to comfort a mother at the funeral of her son who was shot while trying to help protect his community during the riots. A 19 year old white man was shot to death at random as he rode his motorcycle into a riot torn neighborhood to help a friend, a young black girl who had called him in desperation.
