I've met many wonderful characters up here and among the best ever was Corky Stoskopf, a bear of a man with a heart of gold who died last Saturday.

He winked at life.

I thought he was indestructible, but some years ago he suffered an aneurysm and then a stroke.

Suddenly, this powerful working man, who could do everything, was severely limited.

I don't know if he ever walked again, but he stood tall in life.

On the phone, he would joke and lift my spirits and he loved pranks.
