Maybe it really was the Field of Dreams for the Roseau Rams.

Certainly, they could dream of advancing to the state tournament.

They would have to win their section. But first, they had to defeat Crookston, East Grand Forks, Thief River Falls and then Perham in the best of three in the Section 8AA finals.

It came down to that third game, a real gut puncher, the equivalent of a cardiac arrest, because Perham wanted it as dearly as the Rams did.

Hang onto your wig, Martha!

The Rams won the section title, edging Perham 3-2.

Probably the best outcome was the Rams were unseeded at...
