Roseau- Joslyn "Jackie" Kaye Bredeson Morey was born on January 25, 1949, to Elsie (McFarlane) and Ervin Bredeson in Roseau.

Jackie grew up the youngest of four sisters on the family farm in Gatzke on Branch A road.  Their family moved to Anchorage, Alaska for 5 years where they owned and operated a grocery store.  They later moved back to Gatzke and continued farming.  She attended school and graduated from Roseau High School in 1967.
